We’re excited to share that wildlife specialist Sonya Roxburgh has been contracted by Marlborough District Council and ECPG to carry out shorebird nesting monitoring along our precious east coast -focusing on Canterbury Gully and Needles Beach.

From August 2025 through to February 2026, Sonya will be out in the field locating and monitoring nesting attempts, trying to understand how our precious coastal birds are faring through the breeding season. Her work will help provide valuable insights into nesting success and the pressures these birds face from predators and human activity.

We’re proud to be a part of this mahi, to safeguard our region’s unique coastal species.
